In banking, as in many other industries, we don’t work with institutions – we work with people. The choice of this particular Swiss bank, one of many with similar investment strategies, standard conditions, and slightly above-average fees, was driven by the human factor.

Following the 2008 global financial crisis, a trend emerged in Switzerland: qualified, experienced professionals – often Swiss nationals of non-Russian origin – began to leave senior positions in top-tier banks that were hit hard by the crisis.

This led to the rediscovery of the former BSI Bank (Banca della Svizzera Italiana), known for its personalized approach and Russian-speaking staff with deep knowledge of the Russian mindset and business practices.

In July 2014, the Italian insurance group Generali sold its shares in BSI Bank to the Brazilian financial group BTG Pactual.

In April 2017, BSI merged with EFG Bank, creating the entity now known as EFG Bank (Zurich) SA.
