AUTOMATIC EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION BETWEEN SWITZERLAND AND CANADA

Switzerland and Canada are to start providing administrative assistance to each other in relation to taxation periods beginning on or after January 1, 2017 under the Agreement entered into under the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters (as amended by the 2010 Protocol). Read about how Switzerland is strengthening its banking sector in the Facilitation of banks capital accumulation in Switzerland. The Convention shall facilitate the automatic exchange of information for tax purposes based on OECD/G20 Common Reporting Standard. Further insights into Switzerland’s global economic strategy can be found in the Foreign economic policy report 2016 by Swiss Federal Council.

The Convention is a multilateral treaty designed to improve international tax cooperation between the tax authorities of its signatory countries and to tackle tax evasion and avoidance.
